Earlier this week, we celebrated Independence Day here in the USA. Our Canadian friends celebrated Canada Day and all around the globe countries celebrate important milestones in history by lighting up the sky with colorful bursts of fireworks throughout the year. Before we realize it, New Years Eve will sneak up on us, with more…
In my household, we have a family disaster kit always at the ready. We live in Hurricane Alley and have been through our fair share of natural (and man-made) disasters. But what if you are traveling? I keep thinking of Chris Elliott‘s post on being in Maui when the recent tsunami warnings came through and…
I have a sordid secret – I’m one of those hotel bathroom amenity hoarders. Who doesn’t love swanky and upscale mini bathroom amenities when traveling? They’re so cute. And so collectible. When I travel, I do use the in-room amenities available onsite, but if there is a bar of soap or bottle of shampoo left…
Dear Mosquito -Why do you stay away from everyone else but always feast on me? We always joke in Louisiana that the mosquito is our state bird. Ha. Ha. If you’ve ever been annoyed by these little biting bugs, you wouldn’t be laughing. They bit you when you’re camping. They bite you when you’re sitting…
The Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season is the busiest travel season of the year. More than 41 million American are expected to fly the skies this year, making it one of the most stressful times to travel with young children. Let’s face it, babies can sense when mom is flustered, which set them off to…
Italy, Hawaii, Australia, Alaska, Ireland, Paris, and tropical getaways seem to be tops on everyone’s list of dream places to visit. The last time someone mentioned to me that they dreamed of going to Australia, I encouraged her to go. It happened to be my cousin, who came back after a two week tour to sell her…

Pack the makeup essentials when traveling.
To avoid packing my entire make-up bag, I make sure I have the bare essentials – Moisturizer and make up removing facial wipes. It’s much easier than packing your entire facial cleansing system since we know traveling with liquids in you carry on can be problematic at airports. Secondly, I tend to travel with a small compact with multi-color eyeshadows that can double as blush (Bobbi Brown’s Color Brick) is my favorite. Happy travels!
Ziploc bags (in case of leaks or powder breakage) and makeup palettes (to save space). They make makeup packing so much easier!
Fill up smaller travel sized bottles with all the beauty products you take on vacation – saves a lot of room!
I always make sure to keep my face moisturized if I’m traveling by air and I keep the makeup to a minimum.

make sure liquids are sealed tight!
My makeup tip is to ask the sales assistant when you buy a product to give you a couple of small empty sample pots and then fill them with things like foundation, moisturiser, when you travel to avoid packing the whole bottle.
I just try to bring the products I know I’m going to use .
Make sure you have a makeup bag for everything you need.
