Travel Deals Week of May 23- 29, 2011 and Memorial Day Weekend

The official summer travel season commences with one of the biggest travel holidays of the year – Memorial Day Weekend. While it is a popular long weekend for travel, there are still some amazing travel deals to be found. Here are some tips for saving money on travel and a few Memorial Day Weekend travel deals we’ve come across.

As always, these deals may not last long. While we have visited many of the places listed in our deals, we cannot guarantee your individual experience.

Ways to Save on Travel

Group Buying Sites – Just because it’s getting to be a popular season for travel doesn’t mean you won’t be able to save money. Group buying sites are a great way to save money on restaurants and attractions. Sometimes you can even find hotel deals on sites like TripAlertz or Bing.

Watch for Airline Sales – We have some fantastic tips on how to find cheap airfare, but also keep your eyes open on new airline routes or special deals from many of the airlines. While it may seem that airline prices are on the rise, there are still a few good airline deals to be found.

Hotel Deals

Walt Disney World – Free Disney Tickets when staying at The Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek is located INSIDE the main gates of Walt Disney World. The best part? You don’t have to pay Disney hotel prices. The room rates are already a steal considering all that’s included, but for a limited time, every two nights gets you one adult Disney park ticket. Check out the details and rules.

Florida’s Gulf Coast – If you didn’t see it last week, you’re not too late. Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort kicks off Memorial Day weekend with a salute to those who served and special savings as the official start of summer gets underway. The resort is offering a special buy three get one night free promotion for May 26-30, 2011. To book a reservation visit www.sandestin.com and enter promo code SALUTE. We took a long weekend gulf coast family vacation at Sandestin and loved it so much, we can’t wait to get back for another visit.

Washington, DC – Are you looking for a family vacation in DC? The Gaylord National is offering a room rate of $189 on select dates starting this weekend and lasts through the summer. While the rate might seem steep to you, it includes a $50 dining credit per night. That can go a long way for a family getaway to the Washington, DC area. I highly recommend trying the Chesapeake Roll at Moon Bay Coastal Cuisine. Here’s a link to the special package deal at the Gaylord National.
