Universal Orlando Announces New Attractions

Universal Orlando has been teasing us with hints regarding a new announcement. It totally raised the theme park stakes with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and we can’t wait to see what’s next. We knew that the Jimmy Neutron attraction would be getting a facelift, but had no idea what would be taking it’s place.

This morning we attended the Universal Orlando webcast that made the following announcements:

The Amazing Adventure of SpiderMan, a 3D attraction at Universal’s Islands of Adventures that was already amazing is getting an upgrade. Spiderman himself joined the stage for this exciting announcement. I personally already loved

Also, after much speculation, the first CGI film Despicable Me will now have an attraction at Universal Orlando, with a 3D adventure. This will be taking the place of Jimmy Neutron. The entire audience will be transformed into minions. Visitors can see the inside of Gru’s house, laboratory, and will end with an interactive minion dance party where the audience gets to participate.

The movie itself had great heart and was a film that everyone loves. With the attraction ‘Despicable Me making an appearance in 2012, we can’t wait to experience the next big thing at Universal Orlando.’

Here’s the official information from Universal Orlando:

Orlando, Fla. (May 19, 2011) – Universal Orlando Resort today announced that its newest attraction will be based on Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s blockbuster 3-D-CGI feature “Despicable Me,” bringing minions, mayhem and a whole new level of 3-D family fun to its guests.  The “Despicable Me” experience will replace the Jimmy Neutron attraction at Universal Studios Florida.

Universal also announced that The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, one of the greatest attractions in theme park history, will be completely reanimated in 4K digital high definition – once again redefining the theme park experience.

Both will open in 2012 and are being developed by the same award-winning Universal Creative team that has brought all of Universal Orlando’s spectacularly themed attractions to life.  Both will utilize brand-new, highly sophisticated Infitec 3-D projection systems designed to make the experience sharper, clearer and more “real” than ever before.
