Best Quick Service Eats at Disney World

With the announcement of Free Disney Dining for 2010, and the new quick-service meal plan for families staying at value resorts, it’s time to highlight the best quick eats at Disney World.

Don’t be fooled, quick-service isn’t all about burgers and fries. Some of my best Disney meals have come from these counter service establishments. Here are my top picks from around the parks.

Epcot

No doubt, Epcot has some of the best Disney dining options. My #1 quick-service  meal comes from Morocco at  the Tangierine Café. My personal favorites are the Shawarma Platters with chicken & lamb and the lamb wrap served with Couscous salad and Lentil salad. Portions are huge so have a light lunch and come here for dinner.

My second choice at Epcot is located near The Land and Soarin’ in Future World. Sunshine Seasons is a great stop for the kids as they can get a rotisserie chicken leg, mashed potatoes, side and drink for their meal. I’ve had the Seared Tuna Salad on multiple occasions and it has always been fresh and delicious.

Magic Kingdom

I have a confession. I sometimes crave the Anchors Aweigh Sandwich from Columbia Harbour House. I know it’s just tuna sandwich, but it’s a surprisingly good one! Another awesome pick is the Lighthouse sandwich with hummus, tomato & broccoli slaw. A nice change of pace from the traditional theme park fast food.

Hollywood Studios

Starring Rolls Café is a cute little eatery connected to the Brown Derby. While small (only 3 types of sandwiches are served), the food is delicious, and the best part is dessert! This is where Starring Rolls really shines, with their ginormous cupcakes! On the dining plan you receive a sandwich, bag of chips, choice of dessert and drink.

In general, Disney pizza doesn’t rate very high on the yum factor, but Pizza Planet scores extra points for its Toy Story theme and arcade. Meals here are pretty generous. On the dining plan each person receives a mini pizza, side salad, dessert and drink. Plenty to share- get 2 meals and split with the kids.

Animal Kingdom

Anandapur Local Food Cafes, also known as Yak & Yeti Counter Service serves Asian cuisine right in the center of the theme park. Highlights here are the Shrimp Lo Mein, Chicken Fried Rice and the Pork Eggs Rolls.

Downtown Disney

Another favorite of mine is Wolfgang Puck’s Express. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu, but my favs are the Rosemary Rotisserie Chicken and the Chinois Chicken Salad. They also have the best chicken tenders on property. Eat here for breakfast, lunch or dinner- you will not be disappointed!

  1. Great list! We’re big fans of the value of the Disney Dining Plan already, but with free dining back, it can’t be beat! This is a great list. The only other place that comes to mind is a counter service in the Africa section of AK that my whole family simply adored. I can’t remember the name of it, but my father especially kept going on and on about it! Anyone know? It was by the safari.

  2. The Harbour House also has the best gluten free chicken strips and fries. All baked not fried.

  3. I think Amy’s talking about Flame Tree Barbecue. Their food is really good, and I’m itching to try a few on the list that I haven’t tried yet!

  4. Great list! One of the things that I love about Disney counter service is that there are actually options, and not the typical burger, chicken nuggets and fries! Completely agree about Flame Tree Barbecue, and Harbour House…in fact one of the things that I really like about Harbour House is not the food but the upstairs that many people don’t know about…it can actually be kind of peaceful up there and we always get a seat. Another great “quiet” place is the one in Japan too: seating is kind of tucked in the back with a pond…you really kind of forget you are at a theme park for a while!
