Embassy Suites San Antonio-Riverwalk
I was recently invited by Embassy Suites to check out their new Riverwalk hotel in San Antonio, Texas.
This was my first visit to San Antonio — and Texas, for that matter—and I was just amazed at all the family-friendly activities that the city has to offer.
As for the hotel, the location couldn’t be better. Embassy Suites San Antonio Riverwalk is located directly on the historic San Antonio River. For families visiting the area, this is exactly where you want to be. The hotel is within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, museums and historic sites, including the Alamo.
The Rooms – Each of the 285 rooms is a suite, featuring a separate living area with a pull out couch, dining table and kitchenette. Most rooms are one bedroom, with 11 suites containing two-bedrooms. Both king and double queen rooms are available. King rooms feature a standing shower, while the double queens have a full bath. I found the one-bedroom to be quite spacious, easily accommodating a family of four. My favorite feature in the room was the kitchenette, which had a sink, mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker (with Tazo tea and Rainforest Alliance coffee).
Each room is elegantly decorated with subtle touches of historic San Antonio.
Embassy Suite Perks – Personally, I found two selling points for choosing Embassy Suites Riverwalk over other hotels in the area for families. The first is the complimentary ‘cooked-to-order’ daily breakfast. For a family of four, breakfast daily can easily top $30 or more on vacation. Embassy Suites includes a breakfast buffet for each day of your stay. The made to order omelet station offers plenty of toppings to fill up even the biggest of eaters. Other options include pancakes, French toast, bacon, sausage, cereals, breads and fruit; Sodas, milk and juice are also included—every morning from 7-10am.
The second perk is the nightly Manager’s Reception, featuring complimentary beverages –including beer, wine and mixed drinks— and snacks from 5:30-7:30pm. The reception is child friendly with plenty of space to sit and enjoy a soft drink and a snack.
Dining – The one sit-down restaurant at Embassy Suites Riverwalk is Lüke, the first restaurant outside of New Orleans for Chef John Besh. Lüke is a Franco-German brasserie merging New Orleans cuisine with classic German and French cooking techniques. The space is sleek, yet casual, with stunning river views. I found the menu to be quite affordable for this caliber of dining; Sandwiches start at $11 with dinner entrees beginning at $18.
Other Amenities – Embassy Suites San Antonio Riverwalk is a full service hotel with room service, a business & fitness center and an outdoor pool & hot tub. The only negative I have for the whole hotel is the Wi-Fi—it’s $9.95 per 24-hours.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Embassy Suites Riverwalk. I’m hoping to return to San Antonio with my family and I wouldn’t hesitate for a minute to book this hotel. Between the location, suites, free breakfast and nightly manager’s reception, Embassy Suites San Antonio-Riverwalk is the perfect hotel for families, couples or business travelers.
Special thanks to Embassy Suites San Antonio-Riverwalk for hosting my stay.
