Dry Skin Relief for Travelers – Carmex Review and Giveaway

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Carmex. All opinions are 100% mine.

carmex logoIn the southern US, everyone knows someone who is either a hunter or has a camp of some sort. My grandparents had a fishing camp in Pierre Part, Louisiana and some acreage in Pine Grove, Louisiana. We called the Pine Grove property The Country. The Country was a place where I’d go in high school when I just wanted some quiet and nature. I’d trek out to one of my grandfather’s deer stands in the woods and I’d climb up there to read a good book and watch for animals. It was always windy up there and my lips would get chapped. Once, when wearing my grandfather’s hunting jacket, I found a small tin of Carmex lip balm. I rubbed it on my lips and could feel the healing begin, along with the strong scent of camphor and menthol. Since then, I’ve always kept a tin or tube of Carmex in my purse or pocket and my children also do the same. Today, when I smell Carmex, I think of my departed outdoor loving grandfather who taught me how to tie a hook on my fishing line.

carmex healing lotionCarmex is one of those tried and true brands that simple folk like my family have used for generations. I was excited when approached to review new line of skin care – Carmex Healing Lotion and Carmex Healing Cream. I was asked to give an honest review of the products and provide feedback to the company. With the breezy fall weather here and winter just around the corner, these products couldn’t have arrived in my mailbox at a more opportune time. Also, as a frequent traveler, my skin dries out from the air on the planes.

The Carmex Skin Care products come in traditional Carmex colors of yellow tubes and red closures. The tubes are not the glossy yellow like the lip balm tubes, but have a softer look with matte packaging. The smell of camphor and menthol isn’t as strong as the lip balm, but there is a hint of those scents, along with a comforting vanilla scent. I thought the lotion and cream might be greasy, but my hands soaked it right in. I was amazed that when I woke up the next morning, my hands were still soft and moisturized. This is an affordable product at $5.99 for either the Carmex Healing Lotion (with Aloe and Vitamin E) or Carmex Healing Cream (9 healing ingredients). Both are available at Walgreens stores, Walgreens.com, and DrugStore.com.
