Historic Luxury in New Orleans – The Roosevelt Hotel
Traveling with the entire family is always my top priority when I am traveling, but that’s not always possible when I am traveling for work. For this reason, I have been able to scope out hotels that would be great for a couple’s getaway in New Orleans. Life is busy and when the children have a social calender that is bigger than yours, the romance can get lost between the husband and wife. You can take at least once a year for a romantic escape.
The Roosevelt New Orleans which is a Waldorf Astoria Hotel, is perfect for a bit of romance. I recently stayed for a weekend and felt like I was pampered the entire weekend.
The beds were so comfortable, after a long day at the conference I was attending. Each night I would just collapse into the bed with all the extra pillows. The sheets were 300-thread so you can believe I was having a good night’s rest. I was spoiled each night with having the sheets turned down and chocolates waiting for me when I would return late at night.
The decor was simply amazing, as you can see here in the desk area of the room. The hotel recently went through a $145 million restoration, preserving the past history of the property.
As you can see, there’s even a hall in the room which leads to a huge walk-in closet.
His and her robes were waiting for you and they were so super soft. The setting is perfect for a romantic getaway with the special someone in your life.
There’s in-room entertainment with a HD flat screen television for your enjoyment.
…and then my favorite part, a mini flat screen in the bathroom. Each morning, I would get ready by tuning into the news and weather.
The bathroom was a generous size with relaxing and beautiful decor.
This hotel is 100% non-smoking and they offers pure allergy-free hotel rooms. The staff was wonderful and so helpful even when I would get turned around and get on the wrong elevator. They would walk with me and ensure I was in the right part of the building.
Before starting the day, since there are not many Starbucks around town, Teddy’s Cafe is located right in the lobby. I ordered a Chai Tea. I have to say, I was impressed with the taste so each morning, I was there!
Overall, my stay was filled with luxury in with a stress-free weekend. The Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans is a good choice for a romantic weekend.
Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. All thoughts and opinions are of my own.
I stayed at the Roosevelt in February with my wife for a meeting. Beautiful place. I liked the adjacent restaurant which was top notch (of course every restaurant in N.O. is top notch. It is an older historic hotel. One elevator squealed and made so much noise the day I got there, they shut that one down for maintenance. There is no nearby casual dining, but the coffee shop has some things. Close to the quarter and shopping. You’ll need a taxi which are readily available. (or valet your car which is very $$, like $40 a day). I’ll stay there again. Oh, my advice, get away from the quarter at least some. There is so much to N.O. other than that touristy area.
Wow, looks just stunning, and so relaxing. How lovely to have kid-free, luxury accommodations for a little break! If I were you, I’d need some serious encouragement to leave the room!
Dean, I took one whole afternoon with a friend and went sight seeing. There is a whole other scenery to NO and I was so happy that I was able to take in the other scenery. Absolutely beautiful and all the architecture was absolutely stunning!
