Caribbean Joe Cayman 3 Piece Hardside Spinner Luggage Set

I’m a big fan of packing light. However, some travel involves packing a bit more than usual. I recently tried out the Caribbean Joe Cayman 3 piece hardside spinner luggage set on a few different trips, to see if the various luggage sizes were practical and useful.

At First Glance:

The luggage arrived via UPS nested one inside each other. Each piece was light with a hard molded shell in brown and tans. The outer fabric is a polyester Caribbean print with a zippered expanding pocket on the back of each piece. There are top and side carrying handles, spinner wheels on each piece, an interior clear toiletry pouch that is detachable, multi-use zippered interior mesh pockets, and tie down straps on each side of the luggage. Each piece also features a center expandable zipper to increase packing volume by 25%.

The Packing Process:

Small Luggage: Dimensions 21″ x 15″ x (9.5″+1.5″). This is a fabulous carryon that also works for a weekend trip. I took this particular piece on three trips. Two times I used this as my only luggage piece (Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet event and Hilton new lobby design reveal), and the third time it was my carryon for the Carnival Magic cruise. I found this piece to be lighter and roomier than other 21″ carryon bags I tested. I was able to keep the interior organized and still had room to bring things back, if needed. This is my favorite piece in the set.

It’s bigger than a carryon, yet smaller than the larger luggage, offering plenty of room for shoes, dresses, and all the extras a mama needs when she’s on the move. The hard side on this one protects your belongings if traveling by air. This is a piece of luggage that has to be checked. I took this one to the DisneySMMoms Celebration and checked it on a Southwest flight from New Orleans to Orlando. Since we were staying at a Disney Resort and using Disney’s Magical Express, I didn’t see my bag until after we checked in and it was delivered to my room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. The bottle of champagne I had packed inside arrived ready to be chilled and enjoyed.

Large Luggage: Dimensions 29″ x 19″ x (12.5″+1.5″). This is a pretty big piece of luggage allowing for plenty of room for formal gowns, shoes, and so much more. I used this particular piece of luggage as my main checked back, along with the small carryon, for my cruise on the Carnival Magic. I was able to pack enough for this 9 day cruise, along with a pre-cruise visit to Venice, Italy. Even with packing more than my usual amount of clothing, I still had plenty of room to bring things back home.

In Transit:

This was the first time to use luggage with spinners and I’ll admit, it was easier to walk through an airport with spinners than with basic rolling luggage. It was also easier for me to handle multiple pieces of luggage alone during the airline checkin process. I didn’t need a porter or a cart for all the bags.

Overall:

I like this set of luggage, but would like to see an option to purchase these as individual pieces. The interior of each piece was roomy and in each instance of use my belonging were protected and arrived at the destination in great condition. This luggage set retails for just under $300 and has a five year warranty. It can be found online or at retail stores around the US.

  1. Gorgeous! I haven’t seen this design.

I love my Caribbean Joe luggage. I have the solid colors and really like it because each member of our family has a designated color. The carryon holds an unbelievable amount of my stuff! 😉
