Augmented Reality London Travel App ‘Spies Around Me’
For decades consumers and travelers have had a passionate interest in all things mysterious. With the popularity of the James Bond films over the years and the soon to be released Skyfall, it was inevitable that someone release a travel app revealing all the spy secrets London, the spy capitol of the world, has to offer. Who better to share some of the most secret places around London than Eye Spy Intelligence Magazine.
This augmented reality app is available for iPhone and Android phones and offers some of the most interesting facts about hidden London. Here’s the official release:
Spies by their very nature are inconspicuous and so are the places they lived and worked. “You could know a spy for years and never realize they have a secret agenda, let alone what that might be. Spies fade into the background, go unnoticed, and so are the locations they lived, worked, played and died,” says Mark Birdsall, Managing Editor, Eye Spy Intelligence Magazine.
Ever wondered where secrets were passed while sipping drinks or where the balance of history was discussed in a hotel lounge? You just might be in or near one of the locations in London where that actually DID happen. Open your Spies Around Me app and discover the secret London where spies and their advisories plied their trade.
“We’ve had literally thousands of requests for a mobile app from readers across the world, thus our team has worked tirelessly over the last year to create, what I consider, a first class app,” says Mr Birdsall.
Besides the obvious locations such as MI5 and MI6 headquarters on the River Thames, the app allows you to venture to the least known haunts used by the Services in over 100 years of intelligence collection, planning and operations. Places where iconic figures such as MI6’s first chief Sir Mansfield Cumming carefully controlled his network of agents, tapped on the shoulder of would-be spies, and then had dinner with other famous officers.
To most people, they are just anonymous flats, houses and buildings scattered around London. But for those fascinated with the secret world of spies and the work of the intelligence services, they are places of mystery and intrigue.
Just start the app and aim the phone (camera) in any direction. Spies Around Me will show you locations in the vicinity and appear overlaid on the screen’s real-time view. Tap the floating images for a short historical description, directions and it will ‘take you there’.
