Where to Stay

There are so many places to choose from in the Sevierville area. I’ve stayed at the Resort at Governor’s Crossing, which offered some personal space while traveling with a group. More intimate groups may want to rent one of the many cabins available either through HomeAway.com, VRBO.com, or a reputable cabin rental company.

How to Get There

Most visitors opt to drive to this destination, but if it is more convenient to fly, be sure to book your flight into Knoxville Airport. Sevierville is a bit too far for a taxi, but you can rent a car or get one of your gal pals to pick you up for your getaway.

  1. I’ve enjoyed a girlfriend getaway weekend in Sevierville. You offer some great advice. The only thing I’d add is that there’s some awesome outlet shopping there — enough to keep you busy for the whole weekend if you want.

  2. I have been to this area at least once a year for 33 years. Some years 3 times to ride motorcycles or jeep riding with family and with friends. We love it so much. Pack a picnic lunch on the days when you head into the park. Check out the Cherahola Skyway, Cades Cove. Go across the mountain to Cherokee where you can catch a fabulous play during the summer called Unto these hills. It is the story of Cherokee and the Trail of tears. We also take day trips to Magee Valley, Waynesville where the Mast General Store is located. A day trip to Ashville is a must to see The Biltmore House and don’t miss the Ashville Farmers Market where you can have a fabulous breakfast or lunch at the Moose Cafe.

  3. On Day 1, may I suggest you visit Marble Slab Creamery after your dinner at the Chop House? Our ice cream parlor is located just below the restaurant and has nice outdoor patio seating near a beautiful water feature. Every batch of Marble Slab’s super premium ice cream is created with loving care right in-store. We hand roll and bake our waffle cones on-site. For mixins, we offer some of the freshest fruits, the finest nuts, and the sweetest candies available. So whatever you order, you can be sure it’s fresh and filled with fabulous flavor.

  4. I have a really good friends who lives in Sevierville and I have visited them a couple of times. I’ve done some of the things you suggested (and the commenters have suggested), but the most relaxing for me was sitting in their backyard along the banks of the Little Pigeon River and watching the daylight fade. It is a beautiful part of the world, especially inside the Park. Next time, I’ll have to try some of the things on your recommended itinerary – especially the spa treatments!

  5. I am looking for a special site to visit for myself and my daughter. We try to pin point areas that we have not seen for our Mother/daughter get away. This would be a total natural setting, one that we can enjoy the many nature avenues, slow paced, and Hallmark card picture format.

We share mother/daughter moments to confirm those special places that we can call – – – OURS. Big Cedar Lodge, south of Springfield MO is one of those spots in our eyes. A place of reflection, healing, and getting back to nature.

Our daughter made it a point to make sure we (myself and my husband) went to this location as needed for regrouping and medical recovery.

    It worked!!!

Big Cedar is a special home away from home for us to regroup, rethink, and enjoy nature.

    Thank you for your time.
