Fowler and his singing group performed often in Oak Ridge during 1944 and The Harmony Quartet became the most requested part of the singing act. They sang weekly at the Oak Ridge Rec Center. As soon as the bomb dropped in 1945, Fowler, always a marketer, capitalized on the name and changed The Harmony Quartet to the Oak Ridge Quartet. Soon they were singing at the Grand Ole Opry. In 1962, they changed their name to the Oak Ridge Boys.
