SoHo Grand, New York City

I just returned from a short, 1-night stay at the SoHo Grand in New York City. SoHo Grand is a boutique hotel located in downtown Manhattan’s SoHo district, an artsy community with lots of stores and restaurants.

The Rooms: The room was a decent size for NYC. I stayed in a king room which was partly taken up by a large closet/mini bar/built-in that quite frankly, creeped me out. I can only assume that this was in a non-renovated room. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a nice amount of space with a full tub and shower. The wallpaper on the bathroom wall was amusing, which put a smile on my face. I also enjoyed the Malin + Goetz bath amenities and the full length mirror.

Dining: Grand Bar & Lounge serves everything from light fare to full three-course meals and desserts. From May to September, The Yard, a swanky outdoor patio, serves specialty cocktails, appetizers and gourmet burgers.

My One Regret: The complimentary pet goldfish. Since this was just a 1-night stay, I declined the pet goldfish delivery…I mean, what was I supposed to do with a goldfish? Later that night, I regretted this decision and wished I had the little guy to keep me company. I know my daughter would have loved it.

Pros: Great SoHo location and overall, friendly staff. SoHo Grand is a pet friendly hotel- I saw lots of little four-legged friends roaming around.

Cons: Nothing major, I had a comfortable stay.

Great for: Solo travel, weekend getaways, traveling with pets
